Welcome to Panoramic Photos - Lake Tahoe!

I want to share with you my enjoyment and fun in producing these images – they are the products of my hikes around the Lake and in the neighboring mountains.

To me the scenic beauty of Lake Tahoe and its surroundings is just spectacular; the clear, sunny weather is great for landscape photography. This enormous lake, straddling the border between California and Nevada, lies high (elev. 6225 ft) in the Sierra Nevada mountains and some of the surrounding peaks are taller than 10,000 ft.

I am amazed at the many photographic opportunities this area offers: All photos in Galleries A, B, C and D were taken only since the summer of 2012, and all locations were just within 15 miles from South Lake Tahoe, CA and Stateline, NV.

I especially enjoy the panoramic format: these are images where the width to height ratio (aspect) is greater, often much, much greater, than in a typical photograph. The angle of view can easily be larger than 180 degrees – something that normal lenses cannot produce. There is more information on this under Details›Enlargements and ›Dimensions.

Another part of my work, which I also enjoy tremendously, is restoring old vintage photographs - see Gallery R. I am very interested in history, and there is so much to discover in old photos. Over the last 12 years, I have been repairing, restoring, and enhancing many images, some even dating from 1870’s. Many were panoramic – you may be interested in those as well, so I show them under Restoration. Several were done for the MacArthur Memorial Museum in Norfolk, VA.
